Germany’s C-Team Wins U-21 Euros Courtesy Of Outrageous Looping Header

While Germany’s A-team takes a much-needed breather before next summer’s World Cup finals, Germany’s B-team have advanced to the final of the Confederations Cup and Germany’s C-team have just captured the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. One can only imagine what it’s like to support the German national team.

The much-heralded attacking talents of Spain, spearheaded by Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio and Atletico’s Saúl, could only manage a single shot on target against Germany in the final.

The winner was provided by right back Mitchell Weiser, who currently plays for Hertha BSC after a four-year spell with Bayern Munich spent largely with the reserves.

From an acute angle and almost 10 yards out, Weiser sent a snap header looping over Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and into the side netting.

Germany were aggressive, quick to disrupt Spain’s rhythm and generally showed that proclivity to excel in international finals that all Germans are apparently born with.

While Germany were victorious on the evening in Krakow, Poland, you get the feeling that these two sets of players are going to be seeing a lot of each in the years to come.
