Manchester City Obliterate West Ham 5-0 In FA Cup Third Round

Goals from Yaya Toure, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, John Stones and a Havard Nordtveit own goal saw Manchester City demolish West Ham at the London Stadium, 5-0. The visitors were slick in possession, holding over 67% of it, with Toure dominating the midfield and Raheem Sterling troubling a static West Ham backline throughout.

For West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, it was another torrid performance at their new home, which has been anything but a fortress this season.

Following Guardiola’s painfully awkward post match interview after City’s 2-1 victory over Burnley on Monday, many headline writers claimed that the Spaniard was struggling to adapt to English football. But on the evidence of Friday night's hammering, Guardiola’s project at City is coming along nicely.

Arguably the biggest matchup of the FA Cup third round, City completed 92% of their passes and outshot West Ham 18-7. The match was effectively over at halftime with City holding an early 3-0 advantage.

Manchester City are now off until their January 15th EPL match against Everton. West Ham play on the 14th against Crystal Palace, a match they’ll be keen to win to avoid getting sucked into the relegation battle.
