Kevin De Bruyne Insists Manchester City "Do Not Fear" Barcelona

Despite watching his penalty saved in Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with the Everson this weekend, Kevin De Bruyne is as confident as ever going into his Champions League match.

“We do not fear. The style of play is very dominant and we have not played badly [against Everton]. We just have not scored more, that's all,” De Bruyne told reporters earlier this week following a missed penalty against Everton this weekend.

After nearly winning Premier League Player of the Month in September, De Bruyne was lighting the league on fire until he went down with a knee injury. The Belgian star is back early, just in time for a crucial clash with Barcelona.

"I was just fit and wanted to play" he said. "I was able to train last week. That crack has gone very quickly. That's a bit of my luck with injuries, I very quickly heal.”

Pep Guardiola is certainly happy to have him back, as Manchester City went just 1-2-0 in De Bruyne's absence, but will the pairing of De Bruyne and Manchester City’s star striker Sergio Aguero be enough to hold off the team led by the best in the world?

It’s no secret that Manchester City, despite paying loads for their team and almost always showing well domestically, consistently disappoint in the Champions League.

They might actually be able to not embarrass themselves this time around, though, as with De Bruyne healthy the Citizens were unbeaten in the Premier League under their new management and playing style. With De Bruyne back and playing a full 90 minutes over the weekend, the Citizens just might show up in full force on the world stage.
