Gareth Bale Diagnosed With A Serious Ankle Injury, Will Likely Miss El Clasico

Real Madrid confirmed that Gareth Bale suffered damage to the tendons in his right ankle during Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Sporting Lisbon, but the severity of the injury was confirmed this morning via Madrid’s official Twitter account.

According to the medical report, “he has been diagnosed with a traumatic dislocation of the perineal tendons of his right ankle. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

As the report insinuates, this is a serious ankle injury that will almost certainly rule him out of El Clasico, which is only 10 days away. With Toni Kroos also ruled out because of a broken metatarsal in his right foot, the injuries to key players are mounting for Madrid.

As always, December 3rd’s El Clasico is a monstrous occasion with Madrid currently holding a four-point advantage over Barcelona in the La Liga table. The match will be contested at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium.

Bale has scored five goals and registered two assists in 11 La Liga matches.
