Fastest Goal In Mexican Soccer History (VIDEO)

The score graphic was not up yet. The photographers did not have their cameras up. No one was expecting Gustavo Ramirez to rip a shot from the kick-off. Yet, 4 seconds into the match, Ramirez took a shot from the midfield line and scored the fastest goal in Mexican soccer history. The opposing goalkeeper was likely the most surprised. There is also nothing better than hearing Mexican soccer comentators scream "GOOOOLLL!" for minutes long.

This was an amazing shot, but it reminds us of another amazing goal that we saw happen in just seconds. Seems like forever ago, but let’s retrace our soccer steps about a month and a half back to when Clint Dempsey started off World Cup 2014 for the USA with a goal in 29 seconds against Ghana. It was the goal heard around the world that put America on the map. (OK - so there may be many other American goals with this claim to fame, but we at The18 enjoy claiming that title for Dempsey’s goal.) 2015 (Women’s World Cup in Canada) and 2018 (Men’s World Cup in Russia) can not come soon enough!
