Chapecoense Crash Survivor Neto Wakes Up From Coma, Asks Who Won The Copa Sudamerica

Apparently Chapecoense player Neto has woken up from his coma following the team's tragic plane crash in Colombia. That's the good news. The bad news is what happened after he woke up. It will rip your heart out.

Per ABC News:

Upon gaining consciousness after almost two weeks, Neto asked who won the final of the Copa Sudamericana and why he was unable to play, team doctor Edson Stakonski said.

Oh God.

Doctors haven't told Neto what actually happened until he's in better condition. Telling someone they were in a plane crash and 19 of their teammates are dead is not the first thing to tell someone after they wake up from a coma.

I cannot imagine how Neto will feel when the doctors give him the news, or how a doctor would approach such a thing. Hopefully Neto makes a full recovery.

Chapecoense were awarded the Copa Sudamerica following the tragedy.
