Operating Room Reacts To Claudio Bravo’s Penalty Heroics During Surgery

Claudio Bravo’s heroics in net for Chile yesterday made for can’t-miss television as the reigning South American champions dumped out Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the Confederations Cup semifinals. The gravitational pull of international soccer was at the height of its attraction as evidenced by this operating room taking the time to watch the shootout.

Before screaming bloody murder and calling your local congressman to report an instance of malpractice in the OR — or, God forbid, giving this story a frowny, angry face reaction — the patient in this surgery, as has been pointed out, isn’t intubated and appears to be watching as well.

It’s unlikely that the two surgeons and two perioperative nurses are embarking upon a surgical ventricular restoration with the patient just watching the tele.

What other proof do I have of this fact? Well, you would’ve only suffered congestive heart failure after watching the maligned Bravo save three successive penalties, not before.

Don’t give me that angry face reaction now, I’m Irish and therefore allowed to joke about death and dying. And let’s be honest, we both know, dear The18 reader, that we too would opt for having the game on while undergoing the knife. Football makes everything better.

Chile advanced to Sunday’s final to play the winner of today’s match between Germany and Mexico.

Accordingly, I’d really only be worried about having surgery early Monday morning with the two Chilean supporting nurses — those instruments are gonna be a little harder to identify come morning if Chile manage to win their third international trophy in three summers.
