Soccer is the world's universal language. It's the one thing on earth that can bridge any communication gap. No matter where you are in the world, a kickabout is the perfect icebreaker.

I started playing soccer when I was five, and although I'm unable to lace up my cleats as often as I'd like because of two ACL surgeries, I get out there as much as my 'grandpa knees' allow. My heart is never more full than when a ball is at my feet, so when it's not, the next best thing is to write. Thankfully, The18 lets me scrawl about every soccer-related thought that crosses my mind.
