The USA Already Has An Elite Soccer League: The NWSL

Even though the MLS has trouble attracting international superstars young enough to be of some use on a soccer field, the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has no such problem.

Case in point: the Portland Thorns just signed French international Amandine Henry, who is very good at soccer and just 26 years old.

Henry, a midfielder won the Silver Ball award as the second-best (behind Carlo Lloyd) in last year's World Cup

Amandine Henry Is Coming To The NWSL

Henry can't join the Thorns until her contract runs out (we think in June), which gives NWSL fans time to build the excitement.

Adding players like Henry can only help the league's reputation. If it isn't thought of as one of the elite women's soccer leagues in the world, it should be.
