Tecatito Corona Had An Incredible Debut For Porto

F.C. Porto continues to shine in the Primeira Division, with El Tri players leading the way. The Portuguese giant has a strong core of Mexican players playing at the club and one of their new additions left a mark for the club in his first match. Jesus “Tecatito” Corona inspired The Dragoes to a win against Arouca at Estadio Municipal Saturday.

The young versatile midfielder scored twice to give Porto a 3-1 win for his new club and in the process, gave himself a dream debut. How many players wish they can hit that many goals in their first game for their new club.

For El Tri fans, it’s great to hear that Tecatito has already begun settling in well at his new club, since this bodes well for the Mexican National team. Tecatito has an incredibly bright future ahead of him and he has all the potential to be a great player not only for El Tri, but for Porto as well.

Tecatito lit up the Gold Cup with his energy as a winger and his ability to drive at opponents and terrorize defenses. He was the only player that participated in both the Copa America and the Gold Cup this summer and after a successful season with Twente, he was rewarded with a move to Porto. Now that he’s debuted for his new club, he’s clearly grateful for the chance to prove himself in the Portuguese league and if his debut has anything to say about how his season will go, expect him to continue to do great things for the Dragoes and for El Tri.

For just pulling off a great debut, Tecatito seems pretty relaxed. “I’m calm and happy with the debut, especially because the team won three important points. We worked hard during the week to prepare well for this match and we knew it would be hard, as Arouca has a good team. We won the three points, as we wanted to, and that’s what pleases me the most,” he said after the game.

Another new Mexican addition to Porto’s team, Miguel Layun, also made his debut and alongside, Hector Herrera and Tecatito, led the team to a great win that keeps Porto at the top of the Primeira Division.
