Cristiano Ronaldo Returns To Real Madrid Training In Race For Fitness

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Real Madrid training on Wednesday with his fitness still a major concern for Real supporters. Ronaldo injured his knee during Portugal’s Euro 2016 final victory over France, and there’s still no firm timetable for his return.

Ronaldo was photoed at the Real Madrid City training complex in Valdebebas, but he was extremely limited in his actions. While Ronaldo moved freely without a knee brace, the Real Madrid star only jogged a few laps and performed some exercises in the gym.

Real’s 3-2 victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup was achieved without the likes of Ronaldo, Pepe, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos. The status of Ronaldo is still uncertain with Real’s La Liga campaign opening on August 21st with an away match against Real Sociedad.

Real follow that match with their home opener against Celta Vigo on August 27th. If Real are to harbor any hopes of wrestling the La Liga title from Barcelona, they’ll need Ronaldo on the field as soon as possible.

Ronaldo came under criticism for the start he had to the 2015-16 La Liga season, scoring five goals in the opening seven matches —  with all five coming in the 6-0 demolition of RCD Espanyol.
