American Phenom Jordan Morris Just Tied A Rookie Scoring Record

After a slow start to his professional career, Jordan Morris is now officially more lit than Dubai. Morris scored his fourth goal in as many games on Saturday, tying a rookie record for the longest MLS goal-scoring streak.

Morris was named on Jurgen Klinsmann’s preliminary 40-man roster ahead of the Copa America, and his exploits with Seattle mean that he’s highly likely to make the final list of 23 players.

Sensationally enough, Morris has nine caps with the USMNT while he’s appeared in only nine professional games with Seattle. There’s no denying the 21-year-old's obvious talent, Werder Bremen offered Morris a contract in January, but his choice of life in MLS was always going to be a point of scrutiny.

His first five games yielded zero goals, raising question marks about his ability to instantly replace the departed Obafemi Martins for Seattle. Now, Morris is picking up right where he left off in college with Stanford. His long distance strike against San Jose was his best goal to date. More importantly for his club, his goals have resulted in three wins for the Sounders.

Once at the bottom of the Western Conference, the Sounders are now only a point away from a playoff spot. However, the Sounders risk losing Morris, Clint Dempsey and Brad Evans for the duration of the Copa.
