16-Year-Old Phenom Odegaard May Make Real Madrid Senior Debut Tomorrow

Norway and Real Madrid youth phenomenon Martin Odegaard will have a chance to make his senior Real Madrid debut against Almeria. Real Manader Carlo Ancelotti has announced that Odegaard, along with fellow youth prospects Borja Mayoral and Diego Llorente, will be selected to the team sheet as possible substitutes for the match tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th.

"Tomorrow there will be three youth-team players on the list," Ancelotti said in a press conference. "Odegaard, Mayoral and Llorente."

If Odegaard is indeed selected, it will be a huge moment in the 16-year-old’s  already impressive career. One that has seen him become go from playing for Stormsgodset in the Norwegian top flight, to becoming the youngest senior international player ever, to signing for Real Madrid as the highest paid 16-year-old of all time.

Ancelotti’s selections show that he is willing to take a chance and blood new players against Almeria, a side that is currently sitting at 17th, two points above the relegation zone. This is good news for Odegaard, who has reportedly been struggling to mesh with the Real Madrid youth team, and has been dropped from the starting XI by youth team manager Zinedine Zidane on multiple occasions.

Real Madrid faces off against Almeria on Wednesday, April the 29th at 2:00 pm EST on beIN in the US.
